Sausage Pinwheels

A classic appetizer for those special occasions.
Ingredients
1 lb. Hot Neese’s Sausage
2 cups all purpose flour
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 cup shortening
2/3 cup milk
grated cheese (optional)
Step One
Combine flour, baking powder and salt.
Step Two
Cut in shortening and add milk.
Step Three
Turn dough onto floured surface. Roll dough into 18″x12″ rectangle.
Step Four
Spread uncooked sausage over dough.
Step Five
Spread grated cheese on top of sausage.
Step Six
Roll dough into jelly-roll fashion starting with the longest side.
Step Seven
Cover and refrigerate one hour.
Step Eight
Slice dough into 1/4 inch slices.
Step Nine
Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
